Paperless Post alternatives for wedding invitations (2026)

Eight services priced for the same 100 guests, with the billing model and the date we checked each one.

By Ratko Ray Mladenovic · Published September 21, 2026

Paperless Post is a good choice for a short guest list and a classic stationery look, and couples start looking for a Paperless Post alternative for wedding invitations mostly when the list gets long, because its pricing uses coins bought per recipient rather than one price per invitation. This page is that list. It is written by The Digital Envelope, so our own service is in it and we say so plainly; the other seven are described only from what their sites state, with a link and a date for every price. Everything below was read on September 21, 2026; the date changes when we check again.

Why couples look for alternatives

Three reasons come up again and again in the questions couples post. They are worth naming before the table, because the right alternative depends on which one is yours.

  • The list grows. Paperless Post prices each send in coins per recipient, and the tiers on its pricing page run from $0.00 to $1.44 per guest. The first 50 sends on free designs cost nothing. For a wedding, the list usually passes 50, and every name after that is a line in the sum. A service that charges once per invitation, or once per guest band, makes the total known before the list is final.
  • One number before the list is final. Coins are bought in bundles and priced per guest, and the per-guest price on their page falls as the count rises. Couples who want to see one number and pay it look for a flat price.
  • Guests who are not sure what to click. Couples ask on forums whether a guest needs an account to open the card and reply. Paperless Post's site does not state whether one is needed. Some alternatives say outright that the guest needs nothing but the link.

None of these makes Paperless Post a poor product: it has one of the largest catalogs in the category, no ads on any tier, and per-guest delivery tracking. For a list of 40 and a printed-stationery look, it may still be the right pick. The rest of this page is for everyone else.

Cost for 100 wedding guests, service by service

Prices are as displayed on each site on September 21, 2026. Where a site prices per guest, we multiplied by 100 and show the sum; where it prices by guest band, we took the band that covers 100. Our own prices are exact.

Minted also sells online invitations, but its pricing page did not load for us on September 21, 2026, so it is not in the table; we will add it once we can read the price on their site. Sources for every row are listed at the end of the page.

The Vineyard invitation: hanging vines and dark grapes framing amber Tuscan hills at harvest light, the couple's names in script over the sky.
Vineyard, from our Waterside collection. The whole scene moves once the seal is broken, and the reply is collected on the same page.

Best for one price and an invitation that moves: The Digital Envelope

This is our own service, so read it as such. We make 31 digital wedding invitations in six styles, and each one is an animated scene rather than a still card: the envelope opens, the scene moves, and the music starts when the guest breaks the seal. The reply is collected on the invitation itself, one per household, with a meal choice and allergies as standard fields, and it lands in a dashboard that counts meals for the caterer and holds a seating chart at no extra cost.

The price is one payment per invitation, from our price list: Classic is $99 for up to 100 guests replying, Signature is $199 with no guest limit, your own photograph on the first screen, a choice of 20 songs, and the guest photo album included. A Save the Date is $29.99 and that amount comes off the invitation when you buy it with the same email. There is no subscription and no coins; the price does not change if the list grows from 80 to 100. Guests need no account and no app, just the link, which you send yourself by text or email.

Two things to know before choosing us. There is no free tier, though every design opens in full on your phone before you pay, with no card and no account. And our catalog is small by design: a few dozen scenes, not a thousand stationery templates. There is a seven-day full refund as long as the link has not gone out to guests.

Best for an animated envelope and your own music: Greenvelope

Greenvelope charges once per mailing, by guest band: $19 for up to 20 guests, $99 for up to 100, $249 for up to 250, with annual memberships also available. A free trial lets you send to up to 10 recipients. The card arrives in an animated envelope, you can add your own music as an MP3, and the RSVP collects meal choices and custom questions. There are no ads. Their pricing page says these figures are current as of July 2026.

Choose Greenvelope if you want the envelope effect and real music from a service and your list fits inside one band. The $99 for 100 guests is the same as our Classic; the difference is that their design is a still card in a moving envelope and ours is a moving scene, and their price is per mailing while ours is per invitation for as long as you keep editing it.

Best free option with a full wedding website: Joy

Joy (withjoy.com) offers digital wedding invitations and a wedding website free, with unlimited guests and no ads. Premium digital cards exist, and the price for them was not stated on the page we read on September 21, 2026. Printed invitations start at $1.39 each. The RSVP is collected on the wedding website, which the card links to, rather than on the card itself.

Choose Joy if the website is the thing you need and the invitation can be a card that leads to it. It is also the cleanest answer to "is there a free alternative to Paperless Post": yes, with the reply living on the website. Many couples pair a free Joy site with an invitation from elsewhere.

Best for the registry and a free website: Zola

Zola comes up in nearly every list of Paperless Post alternatives, so it belongs here, with one fact stated first: Zola's own FAQ says it does not offer digital invitations. It offers free digital save the dates and printed invitations, and its wedding website and registry are free, with a custom domain from $17.99. Guests reply on the website by finding their name on the guest list.

Choose Zola for the registry and the website, and send the invitation from a service that makes one. That is how many couples use it: Zola holds the registry and the hotel block, and the invitation is the thing guests open first.

Best for a very large list on a budget: Evite

Evite's free designs are free to send and carry ads. Premium is priced per event by guest count: Silver $17.99 for up to 12 guests, Gold $36.99 for up to 30, Platinum $68.99 for up to 75, and Diamond $99.99 for up to 750. Evite Pro is $249.99 a year for up to 2,500 guests. For 100 guests without ads, the band that covers you is Diamond at $99.99.

Choose Evite if your list is very long, or if you are sending a shower, a rehearsal dinner and the wedding and want one tool for all three. Diamond's 750-guest ceiling means the price does not move as the list grows.

Best for a matching invitation and website in an editorial style: Bliss & Bone

Bliss & Bone prices per recipient and charges when you send: $1.20 each for 1 to 9 recipients, $0.90 each for 10 or more, and $0.70 each at 300 or more. Designing is free; RSVP, delivery by email, SMS or WhatsApp, and reminders are included. For 100 guests that is $0.90 multiplied by 100, which is $90.

Choose Bliss & Bone if you want the invitation and the wedding website to match closely in a modern, design-led look. We have not tested it ourselves, so we list only what their site states. At 100 guests the per-recipient model lands close to Greenvelope and to our Classic; the difference shows at 150 or 200, where the count keeps running.

Best for a low one-time price: InviteDrop

InviteDrop sells a one-time Event Pass by invitation count: $15.99 for up to 25, $29.99 for up to 50, $44.99 for up to 100, and $74.99 for unlimited. There is a free tier for up to 5 guests, an InviteDrop Pro plan at $249.99 a year, animated envelopes, and no ads.

Choose InviteDrop if the main question is the number on the receipt: $44.99 is the lowest one-time price for 100 guests in this table. We have not used it ourselves and describe only what its pricing page says.

Start with the list, not the design. The billing model is what separates these services, and the list decides which one is cheapest for you.

Two more pages of ours may help. If you want the same brands compared on features rather than price, see the best digital wedding invitation websites. If you want the one-to-one version against Paperless Post, with refunds, editing and photos side by side, it is at The Digital Envelope vs Paperless Post. And if you are still deciding between paper and a link at all, how much wedding invitations cost works the paper total through line by line.

How we put this together. On September 21, 2026 we opened the pricing page of every service named above and wrote down the billing model and the figures shown, then worked out what 100 guests would cost at those figures and showed the sum where we multiplied. Where a price was not on the page, we said so. Our own prices are taken from our order page, not from a survey. We sell one of the services on this list and have said which.

What is the best alternative to Paperless Post for wedding invitations?
It depends on the list. For around 100 guests and one payment, Greenvelope or our own Classic at $99. For a list that may pass 100, our Signature at $199 with no limit, or Evite Diamond at $99.99. For a free website with free cards, Joy. For the lowest one-time price, InviteDrop at $44.99.
