Refunds
Last updated 18 August 2026
You are buying something for one of the biggest days of your life. If it is not right, we would rather fix it or give your money back than have you unhappy.
Seven days to change your mind.
Ask within seven days of buying and we refund in full, as long as you have not already shared your link with guests. Write to hello@thedigitalenvelope.com with the email you used and we will take care of it.
After you have shared it
Once guests have your link the invitation is in use, so a change of mind is no longer a refund. An invitation that has been seen by the people it was made for has done the thing you bought it for. If something is genuinely wrong, if it does not work or it is not what was described, that is a different matter and the section below covers it.
After the wedding day
Once the wedding date on your invitation has passed, we do not refund it. We would rather say that plainly now than argue about it later.
If something went wrong on the day and it was our doing, write to us anyway. That is not a change of mind and we do not treat it as one.
The guest photo album
The album ($29.99) follows the same seven days: ask within a week of buying and, as long as the album has not opened yet, you get it back in full.
The album opens on the morning of your wedding and closes at the end of the second day after it. Once it has opened and your guests have started adding photographs, it has been used, and we do not refund it.
The album comes free with Signature, so there is nothing separate to refund. If you refund a Signature invitation, the album goes with it.
The Save the Date credit
Buy a Save the Date and what you paid for it comes off your invitation later. Not the list price, the amount that actually left your card, to the cent. You do not need a code and you do not need to ask us. The price at checkout is already lower.
There is one condition and it is the whole of it. Buy the invitation with the same email address you used for the Save the Date, spelled the same way. That address is how we find what you already paid. A different address, or the same one typed differently, looks to us like a different customer, and the credit will not appear. If you reach checkout and the price has not moved, stop and write to us before you pay. We would rather sort it out first than refund the difference afterward.
The credit is used once and it only moves upward: Save the Date to Classic, or Save the Date to Signature. Going from Classic to Signature works the same way, with what you paid for Classic coming off. Once you already own an invitation of the same size or larger, the credit has done its job and there is nothing left to take off.
If we got it wrong
This is the part we mean most. If the fault is ours, the seven days do not apply and neither does the wedding date. If your invitation was unavailable for a long stretch through our fault, if it did not do what we said it does, or if we broke something and could not put it right, you get your money back. You will not have to argue for it and we will not point at a date on a page.
Custom invitations
Custom work ($999) is made from scratch for you. Before we start, it is fully refundable; once we have begun the work, we refund the part we have not yet done.
How long it takes
We send the refund the same day we agree it. Your bank usually shows it within five to ten days. That part is out of our hands.
