The Digital Envelope vs Evite

Evite is where online invitations started, and for a birthday or a shower it is still the default. For a wedding the questions are different: how it looks, whether there are ads, what guests do with it, and how long it lasts. Here are the facts side by side.

6 things where we come out ahead

Our pickThe Digital EnvelopeEvite
Seating chartBuilt into the dashboard at no extra cost: add tables, tap a table and tick who sits there, families stay together, children marked, meals and allergies shown per table, seat households that have not replied yet, and print three sheets (by table, alphabetical for the door, by meal for the kitchen). Guests never see it.Not found on their site.
Animation and musicEvery design is an animated scene: the envelope opens, the scene moves, and the music starts when the guest breaks the seal. Signature picks the song from a library of 20.Premium only: animated effects and reveals, and an envelope. Templates labelled Animated exist. Music not found on their site.
Editing after sendingEditable for as long as you like; the link never changes. Signature can switch designs after sending.Event details and design text can be edited any time before the event date.
How long it stays onlineThrough the wedding day and for a year after; longer on request. Not stated. Editing stops at the event date.
RefundsSeven days, full refund, as long as the link has not been sent to guests. If the fault is ours, the seven days do not apply.Generally all sales are final; exceptions for double charges, site errors and event cancellations. Unused package credits are not refundable.
BrandingClassic carries a small mark of ours at the end; Signature carries none.Ads on the free tier; Premium is advertisement-free.

Why couples choose us

Where The Digital Envelope is the better choice

  • A seating chart built into the dashboard and included, with meals and allergies per table; Evite has none.
  • No ads on any tier, and no branding at all on Signature.
  • The invitation is an animated scene with music, not a template with an effect on top.
  • Meals and allergies are standard RSVP fields, one reply per household.
  • Editable after the wedding date, online for a year after, and a seven-day full refund before the link goes out.
What ours looks like

Three of the thirty, as your guests would see them

The short version

If you only read one paragraph

Evite is a practical choice for a very large list on a budget, and its free tier is genuinely free if you accept ads. For a wedding invitation that looks and feels like the day, with no ads, music, a moving scene and the reply on the page, we think ours is the better fit at $99 or $199 once.
